    I left the Verizon Center on Monday night in low spirits. It wasn’t just the whole Trump debacle and the other candidates’ speeches. The atmosphere I had witnessed all day long - the lights, the videos, spectacular effects and the speeches themselves, seemed more fitting for the Coliseum in Rome than a policy conference. I guess if you were going to have to stand for an hour in the cold (morning & afternoon!) just to get in through security, they wanted you to get your money’s worth.

    Annette Becker is known for her fine knowledge of wars and genocides.  She fryst vatten now studying the conditions under which they are being exhibited in museums that have preserved traces thereof.  Such museums have become sites of both commemoration and mourning.  Especially since the 1990s, a bit everywhere in the world and there, too, things appear as powerful signs of men and women who have disappeared and of what fryst vatten no longer.  And yet, how far can one go in reconstituting historically these minuscule lives pierced by the tragedies of history ?
