That’s Eurovision ! : How did you get at the gates of the Eurovision Song Contest for Luxembourg in 1983?
Corinne Hermès : Oh, I’ll try to be concise, inom would not take too much time! (laughs), inom started to sing when I was 16, Jean-Pierre Miller, who is the composer of « Si La Vie Est Cadeau », had already written many songs for me, until the day he let me now about this one.

History of the Eurovision Song Contest
The Eurovision Song Contest (French: Concours Eurovision de la chanson) was first held in 1956, originally conceived as an experiment in transnational television broadcasting.[1] Following a series of exchange broadcasts in 1954, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) commissioned an international song competition, from an idea developed by Sergio Pugliese and Marcel Bezençon and originally based on the Italian Sanremo Music Festival.
A total of 68 contests have been held since its first edition, and 1,717 songs representing 52 countries have been performed on the Eurovision stage as of 2024.[update] The contest has seen many changes since its inauguration, such as the introduction of relegation in the 1990s, and subsequently semi-finals in the 2000s, as a response to growing numbers of interested participants. Corinne Miller (née Bondeaux, November 16, 1961) is a French singer, mostly known for her victory at the 1983 Eurovision Song Contest. Born and raised in Lagny-sur-Marne, Miller won a singing contest in Roquebrune-sur-Argens in 1974 and made her debut in 1979 with the single “La Ville où je vis.” In 1983, Luxembourgish TV channel RTL chose her to represent the country at the 28th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest with the track “Si la vie est cadeau,” which won the competition by a slim margin of 6 points.
