  • Zaiko Langa Langa has been one of the hetaste and most popular bands in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) since its formation in the early seventies (when Congo was still called Zaire), through the eighties and the nineties and into the new millennium. Such famous names as Papa Wemba, Bozi Boziana, Dindo Yogo, Evolocko Jocker and Nyoka Longo started with Zaiko and went on to establish successful careers. It has spun off several groups consisting of groups or factions of former members which achieved a decent measure of success. Afropop Worldwide

African art historian Lubangi Muniania has lived the life of modern Congolese music. Growing up in Kinshasa, he experienced it up close and personal. And with his New York-based production company, Tabilulu Productions, he has worked with the greats as they performed, toured and recorded in the United States. The meaning of the phrase "Langa Langa" is controversial; according to the band's website, it means "marvelous" or "almighty".

Founded in the early 1969 by D.V. Moanda, Marcelin Delo, Henry Mongombe, Olemi Eshar-Eshar dem'belina and Andre Bita, Zaiko Langa Langa survived into the 2000s (decade), and have been largely popular through the decades. Because of their "rebel" and "hippie" attitude, and their innovative approach to soukous, they became a symbol of the new generations of post-independence Zaire, and are sometimes compared to the Rolling Stones for their appeal on the Congolese yo
