The College of Liberal Arts offers funding opportunities each semester, including summer, to afford students to undertake critical and impactful work. Our Liberal Arts Undergraduate Research Awards (LAURAs) are College funded awards with bi-annual calls for proposals.

    The Liberal Arts Undergraduate Research Awards (LAURAs) grant $2,000 each to undergraduate student-faculty member duos to conduct a research project over the course of a semester. Each student earns a $15/hour stipend from the grant while spending 100 hours on the project, which enables students to dedicate their time to developing research skills without having to worry about their financial wellbeing.

    John E. Chateauneuf of Concord passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital following a heroic four-year battle with brain cancer.  He was the beloved husband of Keya (Banerjee) Chateauneuf of Concord and former husband of Alison (Coutts) Chateauneuf.

    Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, he was the son of Helen (Normandy) Chateauneuf of Lowell and the late Roland J. Chateauneuf.

    Raised and educated in Lowell, John graduated from Lowell High School.  He later attended UMASS Lowell earning a degree in English.  He also completed graduate studies at Harvard University as well as Middlebury College’s Breadloaf School of English.

    Bengali dramatist (1936–2020)

    Asit Bandopadhyay (or Banerjee) (1936 – 17 September 2020) was a Bengali playwright, screenwriter, actor and director. He was associated with the Nandikar theater group. He lived and worked in Kolkata, India.

    Early life and theatre

    He developed an interest in drama as a lärling in Kolkata's Manindra Chandra College, an affiliated undergraduate college of the University of Calcutta, in 1955. He joined the teaterpjäs group Bohurupee as a trainee in 1959 and completed a year's course under the tutelage of Sambhu Mitra. At maternal uncle's house of Asit Banerjee at B K Pal Avenue, in presence of Ajitesh Banerjee and some friends Dipen Sen Gupta, Satyen Mitra, Mahesh Singha, Asit Banerjee co-founded 'Nandikar' on June 29, 1960. Members of the party's first executive committee were elected: President Ajitesh Banerjee & Secretary Asit Banerjee.
