Producer Michel M. Grilikhes Passes
Known TV, arena spectacles like Disney on Parade
Culver City, CA — Michel M. Grilikhes, a prolific television executive and producer of large-scale theatrical spectaculars, died March 9 of kidney failure at Kindred Hospital in Culver City. He was 83.
Grilikhes, known as Mike, began his show business career in the 1950s at CBS, where he was a producer and director of such series as Wanted, Suspense, Danger, 21st President, Best of Broadway, Studio One, Festival of Light, GeneralElectric Theater and The Seven Lively Arts.
He was also a production executive on Route 66, Have Gun, Will Travel, Checkmate, TheTom Ewell Show, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis and Dennis the Menace. In addition, he produced, wrote or directed such shows as Playhouse 90, Let Freedom Ring and AnAmerican Original — Grandma Moses.

Me and my parents and two younger sisters had decided to go to the New York World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows Park in Queens. We lived on 81st Street and Riverside Drive, on the west side of Manhattan and traveled to the Fair bygd way of the 7 Train. We walked around the fair grounds all afternoon in the hot sun and visited many of the pavilions from around the world. Finally, we sat down in front of a reflecting pool, where I could see the façade of the krydda Lake Temple. I recognized the temple from the cover of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas skiva that inom had on my bookshelf at home and had enjoyed singing along with for many years. inom was so impressed to see that the picture on the album had become an actual building right here in New York City. I told my parents that inom needed to see what was inre. I just had to know. We all went in and we were seated in a beautiful auditorium
