    Narayanan Vijayaraj Alagarswami (25 August &#; 28 December )[1] better known by his stage name Vijayakanth, was a Tamil actor and politician.[2] He was the Leader of the Opposition of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from to Before becoming a politician, he was a film actor in Tamil cinema from to He was the founder of Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam and served as a Member of Legislative Assembly representing the constituency of Rishivandiyam, previously Virdhachalam.

    Vijayaraj Alagarswami (25 August – 28 December ), known by his stage name Vijayakanth, was an Indian actor, film director, film producer, philanthropist and politician. He worked in Tamil cinema in a career spanning four decades. He ventured into politics in the later part of his career and founded his own party Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam.

    Vijayakanth acted in over films in his career. Some of his popular films include Vaidehi Kathirunthal (), Amman Kovil Kizhakale (), Poonthotta Kaavalkaaran (), Senthoora Poove (), Pulan Visaranai (), Chinna Gounder (), Honest Raj (), Thayagam () and Vaanathaippola ().
