Minister Zweli Mkhize welcomes new members of Municipal Demarcation Board
The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Dr Zweli Mkhize, has extended a warm welcome to the new members of the Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB) who have been appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The term of office of the former Board ended on the 19th February and the new Board assumed duty today on 1 March
The new members are:
(1) Mr Thabo Moses Manyoni, Chairperson of the MDB Board
Mr Manyoni holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, a diploma in business management and a certificate in executive leadership. He has an extensive experience in the public service, especially at local government level. Apart from having worked for the Independent Electoral Commission for four years, he has been a municipal manager for two municipalities over consecutive periods of four years. President Cyril Ramaphosa has committed government to joining the disability sector of South Africa on a journey towards the full empowerment of people with disabilities.
The President gave this commitment at the end of a meeting of the Presidential Working Group on Disability in Pretoria today, Tuesday 26 February This was the first Presidential Working Group to meet following the State of the Nation Address which the President delivered to a joint sitting of Parliament on Thursday, 7 February.
In addition, the President committed government departments to the inclusion of people with disabilities within their respective mandates and called for similar commitment on the part of the private sector.
President Ramaphosa was joined at the meeting by Minister of Transport, Dr Blade Nzimande, Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Adv Michael Masutha, Deputy Minister of Social Development, Ms Henrietta Bogopane-Zulu and Deputy Minister of Public Service and Administratio

Some of our many successes include advances in research into HIV/Aids prevention and treatment, satellite building, winning the right to co-host the iconic Square Kilometre Array, discoveries in paleontology, progress with alternative energy technologies, advances in fluorochemicals, technology for improved service delivery. Through investing in research and development and innovation the ANC has made significant contribution to meeting our triple challenges of poverty, inequality and joblessness.
